Inugami, a bold and assertive office lady, and Sarushima, her equally stubborn coworker, have a relationship that can only be described as explosive. They fight about everything, work assignments, where to get lunch, even whose turn it is to make coffee. Their colleagues joke that their last names, which together mean “dog and monkey,” are just too fitting. True to form, the two of them ended up at an izakaya after work, arguing late into the night about absolutely nothing important. Neither was willing to back down, their faces inches apart, voices competing with the ambient noise of the bar.
And then? Love hotel
Morning light streamed through unfamiliar curtains. She was in a love hotel. And she wasn’t alone. Beside her, very much awake and very much avoiding eye contact, was Sarushima.
Panic would be the rational response. Embarrassment, confusion, perhaps a hasty escape. But as Inugami lay there, replaying the hazy fragments of the previous night, something strange happened. Her body remembered what happened last night. A flush crept up her neck. Because despite the utter absurdity of the situation, one thing is undeniable. It had felt incredible.
Now they have to face each other on Monday morning, both knowing that beneath all that barking and biting, something far more interesting is brewing.
