The story picks up the day after Norn has taken on Chise as his second wife. Life in the household is adjusting to this new dynamic when a knock comes at the door. It’s their neighbor, Lavmier. Chise happens to answer the door, and Norn, playing the part of the proper husband, steps in to introduce her formally as his second wife. This revelation hits Lavmier in an unexpected way. It turns out she has harbored some interest in Norn herself, and seeing Chise in her new role fills her with a envy. With the introductions out of the way, Norn’s mind drifts back to his personal musings. He attempts to focus on matters of magic, turning theories and concepts over in his head, but the thoughts refuse to coalesce into anything coherent. Frustrated, he decides to abandon the mental exercise in favor of his current hobby: taking walks in the park. A voice calling out to him. Startled, Norn turns to find that the voice belongs to none other than his neighbor, Lavmier.
